Homemade Muesli

Posted on December 7th, 2014

So my dad is a big muesli man and eats it pretty much everyday for breakfast. I have never been a huge fan of muesli as I have always heard of how bad it is for your health. While most people believe that they are choosing the healthier option when they eat muesli they are in fact consuming loads of hidden sugars. Shop bought muesli is definitely not a healthy way to start your day!

So this of course became a concern of mine when I considered my dad’s health. I decided to make some sugar-free muesli. This is not only a healthier option but also a cheaper one!

3 cups oats (I used raw Jungle oats)
1/3 cup oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and ensure they are well combined. Spread over a lightly greased baking tray. Bake at 150 degrees C for 5 minutes. Mix the muesli around. Bake for a further 8 minutes or until the muesli is golden brown. Allow the muesli to cool fully before adding your choice of nuts, sunflower seeds, raisins, dried cranberries or dried fruit. Store in an airtight container.
