Apple, cinnamon and seed oats

Oats naturally lower cholesterol and are high in fibre and vitamin B making them a fantastic superfood. This makes them the perfect breakfast to kick start your day.

I have decided to do a little spin on the usual porridge. My version is packed with superfoods and nutrients and incorporates natural sweeteners so that you don’t feel like you need to add sugar.

Place 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup of water in a pot over the stove. Bring to the boil and cook until the oats are soft. Lower the heat and stir in a dash of cinnamon, 1 grated apple, a sprinkling of raisins. Place in a bowl and sprinkle with a variety of seeds such as pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and sunflower seeds.

Health properties:
oats: naturally lower cholesterol and are high in fibre and vitamin B
cinnamon: stabilises blood sugar levels and encourages blood to move through the body.
pumpkin seeds: high in zinc, which can help with the recovery from colds and is also good for treating acne.
sunflower seeds: high in calcium, selenium (has antioxidant properties) and zinc
